Who are Greg & Zanne

Two voices. One journey.

Hi. I’m Greg.

I’m a husband, dad, dog dad, storyteller, and now—unexpectedly—a guy living with esophageal cancer.

This wasn’t the blog I ever planned to write.

But life had other ideas.

Back in the summer of 2025, I started having a few weird symptoms. Nothing dramatic—some trouble swallowing, dizzy spells, stuff I brushed off. Fast forward a few doctors, a few tests, a few frustrating missteps… and then came the words no one ever wants to hear:

“You have cancer.”

That moment shook me. Still does. I’ve always been the one who takes care of others, fixes things, handles it. And now I’ve got something I can’t fix. But I’m not facing this alone.

This is Zanne.

She’s my wife, my partner, my co-writer, and the absolute rock at the center of my world. We’ve hiked glaciers together. We’ve camped out at the finish line of the Talladega 500 in a million-dollar RV (not ours—long story). We’ve stood in awe at Yosemite Valley and built a whole life out of love, laughter, and figuring it out as we go.

She’s also the one who’s held me up when things have gotten hard—and they’ve gotten hard.

Zanne and I are writing this blog together to document what this journey really looks like. Not just the medical stuff (though we’ll talk about that, too), but the emotions, the day-to-day, the moments that make us laugh, cry, and cling to each other a little tighter.

Why We’re Here

We created Greg’s Journey to:

  • Share our story in real time—honestly, openly, without sugarcoating
  • Keep friends, family, and whoever else is listening in the loop
  • Connect with anyone out there who’s walking a similar road
  • And maybe help someone else feel a little less alone

This isn’t a cancer resource site. We’re not experts. We’re not influencers. We’re just two people figuring this out as we go—and telling the truth along the way.

So if you’re new here, welcome. If you’ve been through something similar, we’d love to hear your story. And if you’re just here to read, reflect, or root for us, we’re glad you’re with us.

Thanks for being part of the journey.
